With the leftover oilcloth I had (see previous post), I made placemats for our new dining room table. One side is apples and the other oranges, so the table can have a different look, depending on my mood. After cutting out the desired size of rectangles, I held the two pieces of oilcloth wrong sides together with hair clips. Placing some tissue paper on top, I sewed 1/2" seam all the way around. After ripping off the tissue paper, I simply trimmed the sides 1/4". There are some wrinkles, but they should settle over time (and use!).
