I have
finally made something for the blank wall in the living room! One reason it's taken so long is I
had another pattern I started working on, only to realize it didn't go
with the rest of the decor. I ultimately found my
inspiration here. I even did the back
and quilting the same. I would also like
to note this completes one of my goals for this year. Good start to 2013 so far! On to the next project...

Dog's day out quilt
Our younger brother, Phil and Traci are having their first baby and he is due in May. As soon as I found out they are expecting a boy I got to work. (This was as artsy as I could get with a picture of the quilt, as our house is currently covered in sawdust from a basement project)
I found the most adorable fabric of dogs and I fussy cut my favorite ones for the centers. I actually made the pattern for this quilt. I did use a varation of a log cabin for the borders and then off set all the blocks. I absolutely love how it turned out.
I went with a simple back using stripes from my favorite fabrics on the front.
For the quilting, I did an all over stipple on the white background. Then I did a scant outline of all the blocks. In the blocks I did an all over cobblestone. I have been wanting to try cobblestone for some time. My tip....take breaks between blocks, it is quite the forearm workout!
A fun side fact for the quilt...the gray fabric used in the center blocks is left over fabric from the binding of Traci’s quilt.

curtains and pillowcase
After living here for almost 3 years, I finally
made some panel curtains for the living room.
They were so easy and I love the grommets! I want to put a grommet in everything now.
I will post a tutorial for the curtains and pillowcase in the near future.
With the leftover fabric, I made a simple
pillowcase for one of the chairs in the room.
The before and after photo really shows what a difference a
little fabric and color can make!

happy new year!
I don’t
usually make New Year’s Resolutions.
They seem so definite and inflexible.
But in the spirit of this being the first day of the new year, here are
some of my goals for 2013 (in no particular order):
1. Quilt for my oldest son
2. Wall quilt for the living room
3. Curtains for the master bedroom
4. Shower curtain
5. Reversible table runner
and
last, but not least:
6. Organize
my fabric and scraps!
I have never really been
one to sit and write out sewing goals. I am actually more likely to have 12
projects going at once and start another one on a whim. I think I would like to
be more purposeful in my projects and not keep so many on the back burner, but
jump in and prioritize. Then again, nothing beats that rogue idea and running
with it. With that said, here are some sewing goals for this year:
1. A baby quilt for my
new soon-to-be niece or nephew
2. An Ohio State quilt
for my husband for the basement
3. A funky mini wall
quilt for my sewing room
4. Reversible applique
placemats
5. Make a quilt that has
hexagons on it
6. Use some of the Flea
Market Fancy I have been hoarding
